Tournament Rules

Check out the rules and guidelines below, which will be used for all Shoot 360 Pittsburgh tournaments to facilitate fair games and tie-breaker resolution if necessary.

Rules & Regulations

Players & Teams

  • Players must be in the same school district.
  • Players can play up in grade, but never down in grade.
  • No player can play for more than one team at any grade level unless prior approval has been granted by the Tournament Director.
  • All players must wear numbered jerseys.
  • Uniform numbers can wait until the first game, if not yet known at the time of application.

Game Play

  • Each team is guaranteed 3 games.
  • Normal basketball rules apply.
  • Two 17-minute halves with a running clock except last 2 minutes of each half.
  • 1st overtime will be 2 minutes – running clock the first 1 minute and will stop on all whistles the final minute of overtime. If a 2nd OT is needed it will be sudden death.
  • In the final 2 minutes of the game, if either team is leading by 15 points or more, the clock will not stop.
  • Time Outs: 2 timeouts per half – one full & one :30. In the event of overtime, each team will receive an additional :30 timeout.
  • Five-minute grace period exists. Teams must be on the floor ready to play no later than 5 minutes after the scheduled starting time, or a forfeit may be called by the Tournament Director.

Each team must supply a scorekeeper for every game. The Home team scorekeeper will be used in the event of a disagreement. Coaches must be designated on the roster form.

3rd & 4th Grade Teams

  • Man-to-man defense is mandatory.  No zone defense is permitted.
  • May press only in the final two minutes of the game and entire overtime. 3rd Grade NO PRESS
  • The free throw shooter is allowed to land across the free throw line after releasing the ball but can’t be the first to touch the ball on a miss.
  • No trapping is allowed in any area of the court outside of the lane. However, “help” defense is legal. Exception is the last 2 min of game, and the entire overtime – where regular basketball rules will apply full court.

Tie Breakers

  • Head-to-Head
  • Point Differential-Maximum 15 Points
  • PA – Points Allowed
  • PS – Points Scored
  • LAD – Last Actual Differential
  • Coin Flip

Basketball Size

  • 3rd grade will use a 27.5” ball.
  • 4th & 5th grades will use a 28.5” ball.
  • 6th-12th grades will use an official ball (29.5”).

Daily Admissions

  • Adult: $5 per adult
  • Veteran: $3 per adult
  • Student: $3 per student
  • Under age 5: Free
  • Each team will be permitted free admission for 1 Head Coach and 1 Assistant Coach.
  • All Team Members and Fans must comply with the policies of Shoot 360 Pittsburgh during the games.
